Greetings WATC Members,   Our Annual Spring Walk was held last Sunday, May 31st, on a perfectly beautiful day.  We had 28 people in attendance and 19 dogs.  If any attendees have pictures of the walk, please send them to Sue Reimund (sreimund@wi.rr.com), and she will post them on our website.  Illinois club members Lin and Bob Hartnett and Barbara Brown joined us, and the IL club has graciously invited our members to their upcoming walk.  Details are on our website:  www.wisconsinairedaleterrierclub.com. You will also find information on the IL Specialty Show at Gray's Lake in this newsletter.  Their Specialty will be held this coming weekend, at a brand new aire-conditioned facility.   Speaking of Specialties, be sure to save the date for our Specialty, which will be held on Saturday, July 25th, at the Waukesha Fairgrounds.  Please start looking for interesting items to donate to the silent auction.  They don't necessarily have to be Airedale-related, but those items seem to be the most popular.  See details below for luncheon information and driving directions.   Welcome to new members, Jeff Cameron and Sue Zimmer.  I have added their information to our Member Directory and will attach the updated version to this newsletter. ~Sue Shannon

AIREDALE SPECIALTY

Save the date – Saturday, July 25, 2009

 The Airedale Specialty will be held at the Waukesha County Fairgrounds.                                                      

Driving directions:

From I-94:

Take exit #294 (used to be Hwy. J)

Turn south at the exit on Pewaukee Rd.  Go about 1 mile.

Turn west on Northview Rd.  You'll see signs for the Fairgrounds. 

 The Airedales generally show in the morning.  When we get the information on the exact time, we will e-mail a reminder.  Also, the time and Ring number is usually posted in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel a day or two before the show.  As in the past, we will have a potluck lunch (that’s the ‘specialty’ of our members), along with fried chicken.  Let's try this new way of dividing up who brings what: 

Members with last names beginning with A - J, bring DESSERT

Members with last names beginning with K - Z, bring SALAD or SIDE DISH 

Start thinking now about auction items to donate.    Donated items can be ANYTHING – nothing is too small.  Dog / Airedale-related or not, hand-made or store-bought…… Gift baskets filled with assorted items have been popular in the past.  Use your imagination!

The Wisconsin Airedale Terrier Club photo calendar project for the 2010 Airedale Calendar requests members submit up to 5 photos. The photos must contain at least one Airedale. Photos featured in previous WATC calendars are not eligible. There is no charge  to enter your photos, however, they must be submitted by the WATC member or a immediate family member of the WATC member.

Photo submission can be e-mailed to sreimund@wi.rr.com or, submitted via regular mail with a self addressed stamped return envelope to Sue Reimund, 3145 Sunny View Lane, Brookfield, WI 53005. Or, make arrangements to pick up your photos at one of the club events.

The deadline for photo submission is June 15^th 2009.

ILLINOIS AIREDALE TERRIER CLUB

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Dear Friends:

As everyone knows the Illinois Airedale Specialty is coming up on Saturday, June 13, 2009 in Grayslake, Illinois.  There is a NEW show location.  The event is at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 1060 E. Peterson Road (Entrance on Route 45, North of Route 120).

Routes to Show:  From North or South – Exit Interstate 94 @ exit 64 Buckley Road/IL 173/Peterson Road.  Proceed West on Peterson Road about 4.3 miles where Peterson will bear right, continue right on Peterson Road approx. l-3/4 miles to fairgrounds.  The new facility is also air conditioned!!

AIREDALE SHOW TIME:  9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Luncheon:  10:45 a.m.   

Silent Auction:  Barbara Brown is in charge of our silent auction this year.  As in years past she again will have some wonderful items for purchase.
